Turnip

This is a photo of turnips I made recently in a supermarket.
It is a useful vegetable, reminiscent of radish. It can be eaten separately or added to a salad. I like it.
When I was growing up, turnips were used as a purely fodder crop for livestock. But scientists created some varieties that humans can use directly for their own food with success. In Australia, turnips are sold in many supermarkets. People also often put them in soup, along with swedes and parsnips.
